Authors: Coastal Magic Convention Wants YOUR Swag For #CMCon16!!
That’s right… if you have a story to tell, we’d like to help. Our welcome bags are like little treasure chests, full of books and bookmarks, fun novelty goodies, and useful doo-dads. We also give away door prizes at all of our panels, and have a weekend long basket raffle that benefits Habitat For Humanity. We’re able to do all of these things SOLELY thanks to generous authors/bloggers/and publishers.
Whether you’re joining us in Daytona for Coastal Magic in February or not, we would love to help you share your work. I am now ready to start accepting contributions for our bags, door prizes, and our charity raffle. Here are a few things to keep in mind if you’d like to contribute…
- We’ll be making 300 bags, this will cover all authors and readers attending. There is no “minimum number” for raffle basket goodies or for panel door prizes. Everything contributed will get used.
- Flat paper products (promo postcards, bookmarks, etc.) are accepted, but should be professionally produced. However, various “feedback forms” from multiple cons have suggested that some readers disregard flat paper swag in giveaways. Please consider some of the following paper-ish items to increase your chances of catching a reader’s eye:
- stickers
- temporary tattoos
- unique bookmarks (with ribbon, beading, etc.)
- magnets
- postcards or bookmarks with discounted or free book codes, especially for Coastal Magic
- On our general registration form, readers can list some of their favorite types of swag. So far, our future attendees have mentioned:
- pens
- cups
- keychains
- book excerpts
- reusable bags
- sticky notes/notepads
- useful things (screen wipes, change purses, phone cases, hand sanitizer, etc.)
- Also on the list above is BOOKS. If authors or publishers are able to provide books for the welcome bags/raffle baskets/panel door prizes, our attendees are SO grateful to get them!
- The more unique or useful your items are, the more likely readers will REMEMBER them, and your books!
